Proposal ini memenangkan peringkat pertama Sayembara Arsitektur Tempat Istirahat Jalan Tol Kanci-Pejagan, 2009, yang diselenggarakan oleh PT Bakrieland Development Tbk dan Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI).

Rancangan ini merujuk pada dua kontras.

Pertama: kontras antara bangunan jembatan yang ringan-melayang-teknis-antigrafitasi dengan bangunan pada kedua sisi yang berkesan menyatu dengan bumi, masif, alami, hijau, dan berat.

Kedua: kontras antara bentuk-bukit dari bangunan dengan lansekap kawasan Pantura (Pantai Utara Jawa) yang datar.

Bentuk bukit ini juga berfungsi sebagai penahan suara untuk mengurangi kebisingan kendaraan di jalan tol; pada saat yang sama memadukan arsitektur dengan lansekap.

This design proposal won the first prize of the Architectural Design Competition of Kanci-Pejagan Toll Road Gate and Rest Area, held in 2009 by PT.Bakrieland Development,Tbk and the Institute of Indonesian Architects (IAI)

This design refers to double- contrasts.

The contrast between the light, floating, technical, anti-gravity bridge; and the massive, embedded to earth, ‘natural’, green, gravity buildings;

and at the larger scale, the contrast between the hill-shape of the buildings at the both sides of the road; and the flatness of the North Coast (Pantura) region landscape.

The massive hill-form acts as a shield to reduce the noise of vehicles on the highway; at the same time helping to merge architecture with landscape.
